About the Darkness of Modern Society

The apprehension of difference is frequently becoming of ‘the horrifying’, or the misunderstood (or more generally weird) not simply by its heterogeneity but by the raw fact of life’s sameness. And that is the mundane, retroactively understood. My daily commute, my exuberance at a sale of items, my washed body, my backyard garden box; not a single of these objects bears any distinction to you or me and for different reasons. These are my experiences and therefore I do not see them, and these are my experiences and therefore you do not see them. That’s what everyone’s saying –

Hey why would I get to be so interesting. My life stinks. I’m just like everyone else and it’s so unfair! Maybe it’s capitalism that makes me and everyone else like this. I sure wish I didn’t have to go to work and be lonely. God, and I’ll be honest, I don’t even have any friends!

So, how do we make all this funny? The present collection of emamouse’s comics demonstrates that the answer is to call to fondness with the strange as an essential to life’s continuation. Probably not by choice. Stumbling and sliding through the cracked reflection of buying shit, wanting things, and sitting at work, the three stories in this collection (‘Darkness of Modern Society”, “Mouse Washer” and “Mouse Underground”) present highly saturated arguments for the non-monotony of daily life.
